Spain manager Luis de la Fuente admits Egypt game difficulty

U23 national team head coach has admitted the difficulty of the Egypt game which will be their first in Tokyo Olympics journey.

The Pharaohs qualified for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo last year after their U-23 AFCON triumph in 2019. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the games were pushed to 2021.

The African Champions will be participating in Group C, aka Group of death alongside Argentina, Spain, and Australia, with the tournament taking place from the 22nd of July to the 7th of August.

In the pre-match press conference, Luis de la Fuente talked about the clash against Egypt and how he sees the confrontation between the African and European champions.

“We are proud to be here representing our country, it’s a very special occasion,” Luis de la Fuente said.

“Egypt are the African champions. The match will be difficult but we are aiming to win this game and all that comes after.

“The game is not easy but we will try to control the match and do our best.

“I believe my players have developed a lot, they have adapted to each other playstyle, we are very excited for the Olympic games.

“The players who participated in the 2020 EURO are ones with excellent qualities, they adapted quickly with the team.

“We will try to meet the fans’ expectations and do everything right.”
