Accra, July 20 (Xinhua)-Ghana’s Chinese medical team donated a drug consignment to a private hospital here on Tuesday to support the practice of domestic Chinese medicine (TCM).
The items presented by the team to the Chinese Traditional Herbal Hospital include 70 boxes of acupuncture needles, moxibustion tools, acupuncture charts, and many other consumables.
Kwame Nyame Bediako Mensah, CEO of the hospital, praised the kind gestures of the Chinese medical team and emphasized the importance of TCM in Ghana’s healthcare delivery system.
“That means so much for us, especially acupuncture needles, smoke for treatment, acupuncture charts, everything they gave us today, we thank you. “He said.
Mensah emphasized the effectiveness of acupressure and acupuncture in China, saying that TCM has become so popular in Ghana that many locals are adopting it as their first choice.
Zhuang Shaohui, chief of the Chinese medical team who handed the medicines to the hospital, said the reason behind the donation was to deepen cooperation between the two countries, as well as to treat common illnesses in Ghana.
“China and Ghana are friends and I really hope that Chinese treatment can help the Ghanaians,” she said.
Over the years, the Chinese government has sent 10 batches of medical teams to Ghana. This has helped strengthen the provision of medical services in West African countries.
